ARCA - Architecture Comfort Environment - is a voluntary building rating system designed specifically for timber buildings. ARCA certifies all the performances of a timber building: resistance to earthquakes and fire, durability, energy saving, soundproofing, comfort and environmental sustainability.

It is a certification system widely used in Italy and is available for all building types with a wooden structure and for all design phases and construction development.

CATEGORIES

The rating system is composed of prerequisites (mandatory) and credits (optional) divided into 4 categories:

PT
TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE

Earthquake resistance and safety.
Fire resistance and safety, even in the event of a protracted fire.
Energy Efficiency, soundproofing and comfort
Guarantee durability.

GE
MANAGEMENT

Construction quality rules, all work carried out correctly.
Maintenance plan: instruction booklet for the use of house.
10-year posthumous insurance policy: guarantee from the builder

ES
SUSTAINABILITY

Certified wood from responsibility managed forests (FSC, PEFC).
Integrated design programme, a team of experts for all phases of design and construction.
Low emission materials, a short supply chain and use of local products.

IF
INNOVATION AND SUPPLY CHAIN

Innovative solutions in wooden buildings.
Healthiness of the internal environments and the evaluation of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the buildings.
ARCA experts in the design and construction phase of the building.
ARCA products in timber construction.

THE CONTRIBUTION OF SELECTED PRODUCTS, PROCESSES AND SERVICES IS FUNDAMENTAL FOR DEVELOPERS ADDRESSING PRINCIPLES AND SUSTAINABILITY INDICATORS FOR ORIENTING INVESTMENTS. PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF BUILDINGS AND TO QUALITY OF BUILDING INDUSTRY.

ARCA

The ARCA rating  system  aims  to promote a design and construction quality, through strategies designed to achieve the following goals:

• to guarantee quality and durability to the occupants
• to guarantee people's safety
• to enhance individual human health and well-being
• to reduce the impact on global climate change

ARCA defines a standard for measuring building quality and sustainability, seeks to optimize the use of natural resources, minimize the negative environmental and human health. The standard promotes an integrative design and an integration of the skills.

CERTIFICATION LEVELS

The rating  system  has 4  levels of certification,  depending  on  the overall performance achieved:

ARCA RATING SYSTEMS

ARCA is designed to be flexible, covering every type of building project:

ARCA NC - New constructions - applies to buildings that are being newly constructed.

ARCA SA  - Elevation and Extension – applies to new buildings that are being elevated or extension structurally connected to the existing ones.
